John Mara hopes Eli Manning keeps job

Quarterback drama in the Meadowlands? Giants owner John Mara is hoping not. He told reporters he would like to see Eli Manning hold down the job all year with a strong season and relegate No. 6 overall pick Daniel Jones to the bench.

A controversial pick plucked out of Duke, Jones impressed in his first preseason outing, going a perfect 5-for-5 with a TD.

Curtis Samuel still turning heads in Panthers camp

Carolina Panthers receiver Curtis Samuel keeps popping up as a potential breakout star. The third-year speed demon out of Ohio State connected with Cam Newton on another long completion to add on to a strong camp.

Coaches and teammates are raving about his improvement. He caught 39 passes for 494 yards and 5 TDs last season, but head coach Ron Rivera has said he’s poised to make a leap.
