NFL DFS Plays: Divisional Round

This article aims to highlight some of the best NFL DFS Plays at every position for your cash game lineups. Keep in mind that the following player write-ups were constructed earlier in the week, and sometimes injury situations can alter the fantasy landscape. Monitoring our NFL News & Headlines Feed throughout the day will keep you in the loop while giving you the subsequent DFS consequences of each information piece.

We’ll take a look at the four-game slate for the Divisional Round. Lineups lock at 4:35 ET on Saturday while this slate covers both Saturday and Sunday tilts.

QUARTERBACK

Lamar Jackson - Baltimore (at Buffalo) - DK: $7,600 / FD: $8,000 / Yahoo: $33

First off, take notice of the DFS Value Finder article by Kyle Dvorchak. It serves as a perfect companion piece to this column. Within that, Kyle mentions how Lamar Jackson is too cheap on FanDuel for $8,000. I tend to agree while leaning his way on that site. You could make a stronger argument for Patrick Mahomes or Aaron Rodgers on DraftKings, but Lamar is a strong choice as well. The weather could play a role in this Ravens-Bills matchup, as there’s a 55% chance of precipitation with an expected temperature of 33 degrees. Jackson does most of his damage on the ground anyway (or through short passes), so a little rainfall shouldn’t deter his fantasy prospects on Saturday.

Also Consider: Patrick Mahomes

RUNNING BACK

Cam Akers - LA Rams (at Green Bay) - DK: $5,700 / FD: $7,000 / Yahoo: $29

C.D. Carter has Akers ranked second at the RB position this weekend - only behind Alvin Kamara. That may seem strange at first glance, but the Rams will probably continue to feed their rookie after racking up 176 total yards on 30 touches (1 TD) last week. Akers checks in at a discount compared to the likes of Kamara and Aaron Jones, and the matchup looks pretty good too. Green Bay has allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to running backs this season.

Devin Singletary - Buffalo (vs. Baltimore) - DK: $4,500 / FD: $5,700 / Yahoo: $17

Zack Moss has been ruled out for Buffalo, so Devin Singletary should see plenty of work on Saturday. There’s a chance Singletary fades into the background while QB Josh Allen leads the Bills’ offense, but we have to take notice of the cheap salary mixed with increased opportunity. That’s enough to keep Singletary in mind as a bargain filler this weekend, maybe looking to him as a FLEX play to round out your lineup. Singletary’s rushing prop of 42.5 yards looks enticing as well - if you are into that kind of thing.

Also Consider: Aaron Jones, Leonard Fournette

WIDE RECEIVER

Michael Thomas - New Orleans (vs. Tampa Bay) - DK: $6,700 / FD: $7,200 / Yahoo: $33

This is another situation where it depends which DFS site you are looking at. Simply put, I believe Michael Thomas is too cheap on FanDuel and DraftKings. He’s less of a priority on Yahoo, where Davante Adams is virtually the same price. Thomas looked healthy last weekend en route to a productive 5-73-1 line on seven targets. QB Drew Brees will continue to look his way against a Tampa defense that has allowed the 10th-most fantasy points to WRs this season. It doesn’t hurt that this game is played in a dome.

Jarvis Landry - Cleveland (at Kansas City) - DK: $5,600 / FD: $7,100 / Yahoo: $21

The Browns will try to establish the run at Kansas City, but there’s a good chance they’ll need to air-it-out while trying to keep pace with the Chiefs. That’s where Jarvis Landry comes in, as he’s the undisputed top option in Cleveland’s passing attack. Landry has seen eight or more targets in six of his last seven outings, translating to a nice 17 FPPG mark (half PPR scoring) over that stretch. Add it all up, and Landry makes for a moderately-priced WR2 on this slate.

Also Consider: Davante Adams, Marquise Brown, John Brown

TIGHT END

Travis Kelce - Kansas City (vs. Cleveland) - DK: $7,800 / FD: $8,500 / Yahoo: $34

One of the biggest questions of this slate revolves around the tight end position. Will you spend on Travis Kelce or look cheaper towards (probably) Austin Hooper? Kelce has been amazingly consistent over the second half of the season, hitting 19+ fantasy points in seven of his last eight games. Now he’s facing a Cleveland team that has allowed the third-most fantasy points to TEs. Yeah...it’s pretty hard to fade Kelce in cash games this weekend. There’s enough value to comfortably roster him as well.

Also Consider: Austin Hooper

DEFENSE

Ravens Defense (at Buffalo) - DK: $2,800 / FD: $3,600 / Yahoo: $17

I’ll be taking my usual approach to selecting a defense: 1) Fill out the position players I want. 2) See how much salary I have leftover. 3) Select a defense that fits, otherwise return to step 1 … The Ravens Defense is cheap on DraftKings and FanDuel, and they looked good last week against the Titans. Perhaps the weather will help them create a few turnovers as well?
