Islanders' Nelson scores gorgeous OT goal, extends team point streak to 16
Seemingly out of nowhere, the New York Islanders have a massive point streak going, posting a 15-0-1 record in their last 16 games.
Their most recent performance against the Pittsburgh Penguins came down to the wire.
A back-and-forth match with the two teams swapping leads casually, the game needed overtime to finish it off and Islanders forward Brock Nelson did so in a scintillating way.

Even the outstretched Marcus Pettersson could not stop Nelson from getting the puck to his backhand to beat goaltender Matt Murray.
The 28-year-old forward finished the game with two goals — his first giving his team a 3-2 lead in the third period.
It was their fourth game of their season that the Islanders last lost a game in regulation time. After that defeat, the Islanders went on a 10-game winning streak that was stopped by an overtime loss to none other than the Penguins.
Looks like they were able to get revenge for ending their streak.
New York is now 16-3-1 and hold the top spot in its division. The overtime tally was Nelson’s eighth of the season, bringing him to a total of 19 points through 20 games.
The Islanders will head to California to try and continue their point streak, facing off against the San Jose Sharks on Saturday.
