The Nets have officially announced the signing of Blake Griffin, with terms of the deal not disclosed.

Griffin, 31, was bought out by the Detroit Pistons on Friday.

“We’re fortunate to be able to add a player of Blake’s caliber to our roster at this point in the season,” Nets GM Sean Marks said in a statement. "Blake is a versatile frontcourt player with a long track record of success in our league, and we’re excited about the impact he’ll make for us both on and off the court in Brooklyn.”

While Griffin is no longer the above-the-rim menace he was earlier in his career, he still brings value.

He averaged 12.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in 20 games this season with the Pistons while averaging a shade over 31 minutes per game.

Griffin was an All-Star for five straight seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers starting in 2010-11 and made his sixth All-Star team in 2018-19 with Detroit.

Since then, he has been slowed by knee issues, but should still be a solid complementary presence if the Nets are able to add him.
