Naples man arrested after troopers say they clocked him at 119 mph in race

A Friday night race that doubled the speed limit on a much-traveled Lehigh Acres road ended with the arrest of a Naples man.

Florida Highway Patrol reports a trooper saw two vehicles racing 119 mph in a posted 55 mph zone about 11:35 p.m. Friday along State Road 82 near 40th Street Southwest.

Troopers eventually stopped the driver of a 2017 McLaren 570S, driven by Eric Henry Lora, 22, they said.

A "supercar", Car and Driver report says "the McLaren 570S pulls heartstrings, delights eardrums, and spikes heart rates in equal measure" with a base price of $191,000. Its top speed can reach 204 mph.

Lora left Lee County Jail early Saturday on $500 bond. He is due in court Feb. 13.
