Mustangs end tough week with big win over South Hamilton

Jun. 12—JEWELL — PCM senior Beau Webb stopped a four-game losing streak on Friday night when he pitched a complete game against South Hamilton in a Heart of Iowa Conference contest.

Another pitching gem by Webb led the Mustangs to an 8-3 win over the Hawks and kept PCM in the mix for the HOIC championship.

"It was good to see him show leadership in a tough week," PCM baseball coach Jeff Lindsay said. "As they say, he was a stopper. He ended our losing streak."

The Mustangs came into the game losers of four straight but Webb threw seven innings against the Hawks and allowed one earned run on seven hits with eight strikeouts and one walk.

On the season, Webb improved to 3-0 with an earned run average of .36 and he has 17 strikeouts and one walk in 19 1/3 innings.

The two teams combined to score six runs in the seventh with PCM plating four to put the game away.
