Musician John Tesh on his life-changing Live at Red Rocks performance

John Tesh is a musician and former co-host of “Entertainment Tonight.” Tesh appeared on “ET” from 1986 to 1996, but it was his 1995 performance and album “Live at Red Rocks,” his first live album, that was a huge career moment. He tells Yahoo Entertainment at the time he said: “This is what I need to do. I have to raise my hand and make one of these specials.” He pitched the idea to PBS, who said they couldn’t finance it, so he took a second mortgage on his home. Tesh recalls his wife saying, “I can’t believe I said yes.” After convincing his wife, he goes on to perform at the Red Rocks Amphitheater with a 70-piece orchestra and faces another obstacle, bad weather. “Four songs in, with a symphony, it just poured sideways,” he remembers. Despite the rain, he records the concert and sends it to PBS. “It ended up being the special that changed my life and raised millions for PBS.”
