Mar. 1—HIGH POINT — The High Point Museum's popular Family Game Night returns this week, but with a pandemic-inspired twist — the games will all be played online.

Now in its fifth year, Family Game Night will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m., and the online event will feature four "game rooms" for attendees to participate in, said Teresa Loflin, community relations director for the museum.

"We can't have the event in person this year, so instead we're having for different breakout rooms, each one with a different theme," Loflin said.

The four game rooms will be:

—Bingo: The classic game, but played virtually.

—High Point's Got Talent: "We want people to come in this room and show off their talent, whether it's telling jokes, singing, playing an instrument or whatever," Loflin said. "The people in the room will vote, and we've got prizes to give to the winners." Each participant will have two to five minutes to perform.

—High Point Jeopardy: Test your knowledge of High Point history.

—Scavenger Hunt: Participants will search for random objects in their homes.

Family Game Night has been one of the museum's more popular events over the past few years, according to Loflin.

"The first year, we did it in conjunction with an exhibit, and we saw how popular it was, so we just continued to do it," she said. "It's grown bigger every year. We had less than 100 people the first year, and we had almost 200 people last year. And the fun thing is, it's not just for kids — it's for everybody."

Organizers hope this year's event will be just as popular as in years past, despite the fact that it will be online.

"Even in our new format, this event will still give families a chance to socialize with others outside their own household in a safe way," said Edith Brady, museum director. "At this point in the pandemic, I think most of us welcome an opportunity to interact with new people."

Space is limited and registration is required. To register, visit the calendar section of the museum's website at www.highpointmuseum.org.
