MUNCIE, Ind. — A Muncie man accused of repeatedly sexually abusing a pre-teen girl has entered into an agreement that could send him to prison for up to 30 years.

Kyle Edward Burnum, 33, was arrested in May on the molesting allegations.

According to an affidavit, Burnum eventually admitted to fondling his accuser, and to exposing himself to the juvenile.

An agreement with prosecutors called for Burnum to plead guilty to two counts of child molesting — one a Level 1 felony carrying up to 40 years in prison and the other a Level 4 felony with a maximum 12-year sentence — and one count of performance harmful to minors.

The deal — taken under advisement by Delaware Circuit Court 5 Judge Thomas Cannon Jr. — would also resolve another case pending against the Muncie man.

In that case, Eaton police said Burnum had "two young females" in his vehicle when he was arrested for driving drunk last January.

The agreement called for Burnum to plead guilty to charges of neglect of a dependent and driving while intoxicated stemming from that arrest.

Under the terms of the deal, Judge Cannon could sentence the Muncie man to up to 30 years in prison.

Burnum was tentatively scheduled to be sentenced last week, but the hearing was postponed, reportedly due to an attorney's illness.
