Multiple Sixers give praise to Paul Reed after big performance vs. Nets

PHILADELPHIA–The Philadelphia 76ers were in need of somebody to step up and produce as they took on the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday at home. The game featured the return of Ben Simmons as that took on a life of its own, but the Sixers got a big performance out of Paul Reed.

With Joel Embiid dealing with a left mid-foot sprain and being out for at least a couple of games, the Sixers turned to Montrezl Harrell to start the game and then turned to Reed to bring the energy.

Reed had 19 points and 10 rebounds as the Sixers were able to overcome the Nets 115-106 at home. Reed shot 7-for-9 from the floor and he had three steals and two blocks as he did a little bit of everything for Philadelphia out on the floor.

Afterward, Reed received a lot of praise from his teammates:

Tobias Harris on Reed

“I thought Paul Reed, his energy out there on the floor. He’s so young and just goes out and plays with a ton of heart, right? To finish the game 19 and 10, his presence out there on the defensive end and being able to really see the openings in their defense in the pick-and-roll was huge for us. He rolled so many times and got wide-open layups.”

De'Anthony Melton on Reed

“Bball Paul! A nice little 19 and 10. He was active and that’s what we need him to do on both ends of the floor. Getting offensive rebounds, getting in transition, cleaning stuff up, setting screens, rolling, he was great tonight for us.”

Doc Rivers on Reed and Harrell

“They were great. It was a great combination. I thought Trez played well in the first stint, and then after that, I didn’t think he had the same energy where I thought Paul kept the energy through the game and that’s why we kept him in.”

Reed on his game and if playing against Simmons motivated him

“Naw. It was fun to play against him, but I wanted to win so I know the team needed it. I knew we had to come out with that energy and really handle business.”
