Mt. Pleasant Area, Yough schools to host covid vaccine clinics following similar events in Greensburg, Hempfield

May 5—Hayden's Pharmacy will conduct covid-19 vaccine clinics at additional Westmoreland County schools after administering doses of the Pfizer vaccine to several hundred recipients Tuesday at Greensburg Salem Senior High.

A voluntary clinic on Thursday at Mt. Pleasant Area School District will be available only to students age 16 and older. The clinic will be held during the school day.

On Monday, Hayden's will offer vaccine doses to age-qualifying students at Yough Senior High School. That clinic then will open the clinic to the public from 2:3o to 3:30 p.m.

Clinic participants must visit haydenspharmacy.com/covid-19-vaccine to register in advance.

The Greensburg Salem clinic also was voluntary and was opened to the public as well as to district students.

Ed Christofano, president and CEO of Hayden's, said second vaccine doses will be scheduled within 21 days of initial clinics and will be held before the end of the school year.

He expressed hope that the school clinics will "protect more of our community members as we enter the summer months of family activity and traveling. It is still our goal to offer immunizations to all those in need as we are trying to return to normal daily life routines."

Hempfield Area School District partnered with Rite Aid to provide Pfizer vaccinations to its older students and community members during a clinic Tuesday.

Similar events are planned for residents 16 and older, including May 11 for residents in the North Hills School District; May 12 at Plum's Oblock Junior High School that is open to Plum, Oakmont and Verona residents; and May 14 at Norwin High School.
