MSP: Jerome man arrested for homicide

A Jerome man was arrested on homicide charges early Saturday by Michigan State Police.

Troopers and paramedics were dispatched to the man’s home in the 11000 block of Opel Drive in Somerset Township for an initial report that a 26-year-old female, who broke into the man’s home, had been shot.

She succumbed to injuries on the scene and was pronounced deceased.

Neighbors informed The Hillsdale Daily News the female’s brother and father lived next door to the home where the shooting occurred.

The homeowner who shot the female was identified in the Hillsdale County Jail tracker early Saturday morning as 27-year-old Jonathan Navarre Ressler, who is tentatively scheduled for arraignment in the 2B District Court at 3 p.m. Monday on charges of homicide — willful killing.

Michigan State Police have not released additional details and the incident remains under investigation.
