Mountain Ridge volleyball sweeps Meyersdale to stay perfect

Sep. 26—FROSTBURG — Mia DeCarlo recorded a double-double in service points and digs, and Mountain Ridge swept Meyersdale, 25-13, 25-14, 25-20, on Thursday to improve to 5-0.

DeCarlo tallied 17 points, 15 digs, six aces and five kills; Kendall Kirkwood finished with 17 points, eight kills, six digs, four aces and two blocks; Avery Tipton racked up 10 assists, seven points, seven digs and two aces; Ella Snyder finished with 11 kills, six digs and five points; and Kaitlyn Simpson garnered 10 assists, two service points and two blocks.

Meyersdale, which fell to 5-4 with the defeat, was led by Amelia Kretchman with eight kills, four digs and three blocks, and Izabella Donaldson who had 15 digs.

Meyersdale fell in the junior varsity game, 25-19, 25-17. Makayla Ziler and Allison Tringler paces the Miners' JVs with four points apiece.

Mountain Ridge hosts Frankfort on Monday at 7 p.m. in a battle of two teams that made their respective state tournaments last year.
