Mount Union cross country teams and five individuals earn USTFCCCA Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS -- Both Mount Union men's and women's cross country teams along with two individual members from the men's team and three individual members from the women's team have earned All-Academic honors from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

For a team to be considered for this honor, it must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional meet and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale. Overall, there were 137 men and 163 women teams honored by the USTFCCCA.

The Purple Raider women's team placed eighth at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional and had a team grade point average of 3.696 while the men's team came in fifth at the region and have a 3.299 gpa.

In order for student-athletes to earn the honor, they must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet. There were 248 men from 91 institutions and 203 women from 105 institutions who earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.

Two Mount Union women runners - grad student Brit McCauley (Ontario), junior Megan Wertz (Canton / GlenOak) and freshman Jasmine Arnold (Harrison Central) earned the honor.

McCauley placed 13th at the regional and is currently working on her MBA, Wertz placed 31st at he regional and is an Exercise Science major and Arnold placed 50th at the regional and also is an Exercise Science major.

Two Mount Union men runners - junior Jeff Joseph (Beloit / West Branch) and Vincent Giumenti (Dover) earned the honor.

Joseph placed seventh at the regional and is a Multi-Platform Software Development major and Giumenti placed 14th at the regional and currently a Mechanical Engineering major.
