A 49-year old man died Saturday after a motorcycle he was riding collided with an SUV in an unincorporated area of Lakeland Friday, officials with the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.

Officials said Glen James McCord of Lakeland was riding a blue and white 2009 Suzuki Sport motorcycle south on Green Road, while Daniel Goldman, of Tampa, was driving a 2006 Lexus RX400 along the same road, in the opposite direction.

Investigators said Goldman, 27, made a left turn at the Hunt Fountain Park entrance near Duff Road, crossing into the path of the motorcycle. When the vehicles collided, McCord was thrown from the motorcycle.

McCord was taken to an area hospital where he died from injuries sustained in the crash early the next morning. Goldman and the five passengers in the vehicle he was driving were uninjured, officials said.
