Motorcyclist dies after collision on Queen Street in Southington

A motorcyclist traveling on Queen Street in Southington was killed after a collision with a car Friday night.

Garrett Vanepps, 20, of the Plantsville section of Southington, died after sustaining serious injuries in the crash, police in Southington said Saturday morning.

Police said Vanepps was operating a 2017 Harley Davidson motorcycle and was traveling north on Queen Street just before 10 p.m. when he collided in the northbound lane with a 2002 Toyota Camry driven by Emma Zychowski, 17. Zychowski had been traveling in the southbound lane, police said.

Vanepps was taken to a local hospital and later died. Zychowski and a passenger in the car did not appear to suffer any injuries and were not transported from the scene, police said.
