Mother, daughter charged with felony insurance fraud

Mar. 6—MILTON — A mother and daughter from Milton are facing felony insurance fraud from the state attorney general's office.

Angela Christine Rider, 46, and Jessica Mae Mixell, 25, were charged by Special Agent Joseph Labert of the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General in the Milton Office of District Judge Michael Diehl. They are both facing two felony counts of insurance fraud and a felony count of theft by deception.

Rider's policy with Progressive Insurance was canceled on July 22 for non-payment and then reinstated without a lapse on July 28 when she paid. A claim was then reported on Aug. 3 in which Mixell had struck a deer in a 2012 Buick Enclave on Route 147 in Point Township, the state reported.

Rider claimed the police did not come to the scene and she had the vehicle towed to her house by Talor's Towing Company. An insurance agent called the towing company as well as state police and learned the accident occurred on July 28, the state reported.

Both women are free after posting $10,000 unsecured bail each. They are both scheduled for preliminary hearings on March 17 in front of Diehl.
