More fun and games for ‘Alice in Borderland’ cast in new Season 2 trailer

It’s more fun and games for the cast of “Alice in Borderland” in the new Season 2 Netflix teaser trailer.

First revealed as part of Netflix’s Tudum livestream event over the weekend, “Alice in Borderland” Season 2 sees the return of protagonists Ryōhei Arisu and Yuzuha Usagi, played by Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya, respectively. Castmates Ayaka Miyoshi, Dori Sakurada, Aya Asahina, Nijiro Murakami, Yutaro Watanabe, Tsuyoshi Abe, Sho Aoyagi and Riisa Naka reprise their roles as well. Newcomers to the series Tomohisa Yamashita and Kai Inowaki play the characters the King of Clubs and Matsushita, respectively.

The description for the trailer reads: “Arisu and Usagi must unravel the mysteries of the Borderland in order to return to their world. Shifting from the shocking setting of an empty Shibuya in the first season, this season is set in a devastated Shibuya covered in plants. Don't miss a second of this survival game packed with intense action and a thrilling story!”

Some notable highlights from the trailer include a plant-covered Shibuya, Tokyo, a tense showdown among several characters in a port setting and cutaways to familiar faces from Season 1. Another scene shows an action-packed race of some kind. Arisu is then shown asking one of the game masters, “If we clear all the games, can we return?”

“Alice in Borderland” is an adaptation of the manga series of the same name. Season 1 premiered in December 2020 with eight episodes, amassing 18 million views in just a month. The show was renewed for a second season only two weeks after its premiere.

Although an exact release date has not been announced, Season 2 is slated for a December release.
