Montague man injured after crash with West Ottawa school bus

OLIVE TWP. — A man from Montague was hospitalized after a crash involving a school bus in Olive Township on Thursday, Jan. 12.

Deputies from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash on U.S.-31 and Port Sheldon Street just after 9 a.m. Thursday. The crash involved a passenger car and a bus from West Ottawa Public Schools. There were no children on the bus at the time of the crash.

Investigation shows the bus was slowing for a red light while traveling southbound on U.S. 31. As it was stopping, a car driven by a 21-year-old Montague man struck the bus from behind. The impact wedged the car under the rear bumper of the bus, OCSO said.
