Oct. 23—Green-hued monsters, even those of the meticulously constructed paper-craft kind, will be on display and in the running for cash prizes next week in the Jeannette Halloween Parade.

"It was always a really nice parade," said co-organizer Nancy Peters, who has joined forces with fellow Jeannette Councilwoman Robin Mozley.

The event will return at 7 p.m. Thursday on Clay Avenue.

One of those who has been gearing up for the return of the parade, which was canceled last year, is Jen Costello of You Are Here Gallery. She hosted a workshop last weekend to construct papier-mache creations for the parade.

Costumed participants stand to win cash.

In addition to goblins and ghouls, a stalwart of another season — Santa Claus — will be on hand, Peters said.

Judging begins at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at City Hall for costumed participants who want to be judged for individual, couples, group or float costumes. Anyone wishing to have their costume judged can register before the parade by calling 724-527-4000 ext. 12.
