Monroeville girls open with road win

Dec. 7—WELLINGTON — The Monroeville girls basketball team opened the season on Monday with a 43-39 victory over host Wellington in non-league road action.

Trailing 23-19 at halftime, Monroeville held a 12-3 scoring edge in the third quarter to take a 31-26 lead entering the final eight minutes, where it was outscored 13-12.

Graisyn Yoder finished with 19 points for the Eagles, who also got six points each from Hannah Lyons and Ava Krueger.

Monroeville hosts New London on Friday and Mapleton on Saturday in Firelands Conference action.
