Monroe Police searching for suspect in Sunday shooting at officers
Monroe Police are searching for a person involved in a shooting against officers Sunday around 3 p.m. on S. 8th Street.
According to authorities, officers conducted a traffic stop when the suspect, identified as 18-year-old Isszvian Webb, fired an AR-15 style rifle at an officer multiple times. Webb then shot other officers during a pursuit and later eluded arrest.
Monroe Police Chief Vic Zordan described Webb as a "danger to society" at a press conference Monday in Council Chambers at Monroe City Hall.
"We're not going to stop until we do find him. This is completely unacceptable in every form and fashion," Zordan said. "If anybody has any information, we need to know it. You need to know it. The next person that pulls him over, he's going to shoot at. He's already made statements that he will not be taken alive. He has a past history. He's a shooter and he wants to be a killer. We want that not to happen."
