Monday's Predators-Stars game in Dallas postponed due to power outages

The Nashville Predators and Dallas Stars will not play as scheduled on Monday night in Dallas, the NHL announced shortly before the teams were scheduled to face off.

The game was postponed at the request of Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson, the league said, as the area and the state of Texas deal with power outages related to the snow and ice storm that has overtaken much of the Sun Belt, South and Midwest.

"Tonight’s game between the Nashville Predators and Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center has been postponed due to extreme weather conditions that have caused significant power outages in the Dallas area," the league's statement read. "Although both Clubs and the assigned on-ice officials are in Dallas, the League and the Stars made the decision upon the advice of Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson."

A make-up date has not yet been announced.

Nashville and Dallas were scheduled to play the second game of a back-to-back Tuesday in Dallas at 8:30 p.m. ET. The status of that game is unclear.

Rotating power outages were initiated by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas on Monday, meaning thousands went without electricity for short periods as temperatures fell into the teens near Dallas and Houston. More than 3.6 million customers were in the dark as of 7:30 p.m. ET Monday.
