Sofia Vergara and her Modern Family co-stars have recreated their cast photo 10 years after the show started.

The image was shared on social media by the comedy’s co-creator Steve Levitan.

It was taken as the cast got together for a table read ahead of their 11th – and final – series.

The snap was posted alongside the photo the stars took when Modern Family started in 2009.

The actors are standing in the same places, with the cast of children all grown up in the second shot.

Vergara is stood next to Ed O’Neill, who plays her onscreen husband, and has her arm around Rico Rodriguez, who plays her son Manny.

Rodriguez was 10 when the show began and recently turned 21.

The Dunphys – played by Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter and Nolan Gould - also look a little different these days, with 20-year-old Gould now almost as tall as his onscreen dad.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet, who play gay couple Mitchell and Cameron, are joined by actress Aubrey Anderson-Emmons in the second photo.

The actress plays their adopted daughter and did not join the cast until series three.

Levitan wrote: “Ten years ago we took the first cast photo outside our first #modernfamily table read.

“Today, the ending begins.”

He added a crying emoji to his post.

Modern Family started in 2009 and will wrap up after its 11 season.

The comedy about a father, his kids and their families has been a huge hit with viewers and has picked up several awards, including the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series for each of its first five years.
