Mock trade lands Fred VanVleet in Chicago for Lonzo Ball, Coby White

The Chicago Bulls, who currently hold the final play-in spot as the No. 10 seed in the Eastern Conference, have been subject to trade rumors and speculation halfway through the season as they’ve failed to meet expectations in the second-year for this version of their core.

With one week to go before the trade deadline, Chicago seems to be undecided on whether they should stand pat with their core or become sellers to begin a rebuild.

On Thursday, ESPN put together six big trades that they’d like to see happen at the deadline, which included the Bulls swapping guards with a fellow Eastern Conference team for a former All-Star.

Proposed blockbuster trade sends LaVine to Lakers for Westbrook, picks

Bulls receive: Lonzo Ball and Coby White

Raptors receive: Fred VanVleet and Malachi Flynn

This trade brought some confusion because why would Toronto do this deal?

Losing VanVleet for just Ball and White makes little to no sense as the unknown surrounding Ball’s knee is frightening and White is set to hit unrestricted free agency this offseason.

For the Bulls, you get an upgrade at point guard in FVV for a hopeful playoff push this season but leaves uncertainty going forward as rumors surrounding VanVleet say he plans to opt out of his deal this summer.

Overall, a confusing trade proposal here from ESPN that Masai Ujiri would immediately scoff at.
