Astros become World Series favorites in Vegas with Zack Greinke onboard
The Houston Astros made the big move at the 2019 MLB trade deadline by trading for Arizona Diamondbacks ace Zack Greinke, cementing their rotation as the envy of all of baseball.
In case there was any doubt on whether or not the Astros are now the World Series favorites, Westgate Las Vegas oddsmaker Jeff Sherman released the sportsbook’s new MLB odds. The Astros take the top spot at 2-to-1 odds.

Following the Astros are the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees, two teams who raised eyebrows Wednesday by staying relatively quiet at the trade deadline.
The Dodgers acquired infielder Jedd Gyorko and left-handed reliever Adam Kolarek, while the Yankees’ sole move was to acquire 20-year-old minor leaguer Alfredo Garcia. None of those moves are likely to make a significant waves like Greinke did, which would be why the teams were leapfrogged by the Astros compared to odds released a week ago.
The only other significant contender to see a real jump was the Atlanta Braves, who went from 12-to-1 to 9-to-1 after trading for a trio of solid relievers in Shane Greene, Mark Melancon and Chris Martin to fortify a flailing bullpen while the second-place Nationals were only able to add a lesser trio of relievers.
