MLB no-hitters tracker: What games were no-hitters in 2022? originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
It’s special when a game ends and one team has a “0” in the hits column.
The 2021 season marked the first time in 137 years that the no-hitter record was broken. In 1884, there were eight no-hitters thrown during the season and on Aug. 14, 2021, that record was tied. On Sept. 11, 2021, the Milwaukee Brewers’ Corbin Burnes and Josh Hader combined for the ninth no-hitter of the season, making baseball history.
It took less than a month for the 2022 MLB season to get a no-hitter, but there’s a long way to go in catching up to 2021.
Here’s a rundown of all the no-hitters thrown this season:
1. April 29, New York Mets vs. Philadelphia Phillies: Tylor Megill, Drew Smith, Joely Rodríguez, Seth Lugo, Edwin Díaz
Megill got things started with five innings before the bullpen finished the job. Smith, Rodríguez and Lugo shared the next three innings before Díaz struck out the side in the ninth.
The no-hitter was just the second in Mets history. The five pitchers combined to throw 159 pitches, the most on record for an MLB no-hitter.
2. May 10, Los Angeles Angels vs. Tampa Bay Rays: Reid Detmers
The first solo no-hitter of the 2022 season belonged to 22-year-old Angels rookie Reid Detmers.
Making just his 11th career start, Detmers was dominant against one of baseball’s best lineups. The Angels scored eight runs in the first three innings, and the rookie handled business from there. He threw 108 pitches on the night, surrendering one walk and striking out two batters.
To seal the 12-0 win, Detmers got Yandy Diaz to ground out to shortstop before being mobbed by his teammates. It was the 12th no-hitter in Angels franchise history and the first since 2019.

3. May 15, Cincinnati Reds vs. Pittsburgh Pirates: Hunter Greene, Art Warren
The last-place Reds have done a lot of losing this season, but their most unusual defeat came on May 15 in Pittsburgh.
Hunter Greene and Art Warren combined to pitch eight innings of no-hit ball. Still, the Pirates got a run on the board in the bottom of the eight following three straight walks and then an RBI fielder’s choice from Ke’Bryan Hayes.
On the other side, Jose Quintana threw seven scoreless innings for the Pirates before Chris Stratton and David Bednar shut the door on the Reds in a 1-0 win. It’s the first time since 2008 and sixth time since 1900 that a team won a game without collecting a hit.

4. June 25, Houston Astros vs. New York Yankees: Christian Javier, Hector Neris, Ryan Pressly
The highly-anticipated battle in the Bronx between the Yankees and Astros delivered some history in the third of a four-game series.
Led by starter Christian Javier, Houston handed New York its first no-hitter since 2003 – which was also a combined bid by the Astros in the Bronx.
Javier did the heavy lifting, pitching seven innings, striking out 13 batters and walking just one on 115 pitches. Hector Neris pitched the eighth, working around two walks to keep the no-hitter intact. Ryan Pressly finished the job, striking out two before getting Giancarlo Stanton to ground out and seal the deal.
