Mitchell wrestling takes down Chamberlain in season-opening dual

Dec. 4—CHAMBERLAIN — Powered by four pins, the Mitchell High School wrestling team opened its season with a 56-12 dual victory over fellow Region 3A foe Chamberlain on Friday night.

Cruz Alhizer scored a major decision at 113 pounds to get the matches started for the Kernels, with Penn Long (126), Tucker Vilhauer (152) and Seth Foote (195) scoring pinfall victories. In a battle of top-four state finishers a season ago in Class A, Beau Foote had a third-period pin of Chamberlain's Canyon Burkard at 285 pounds.

Jagger Tyler had a major decision shutout at 145 pounds for the Kernels and Brock Sparks won an overtime match against Chamberlain's Dom Santiago at 132 pounds by a 5-3 score.

Chamberlain's Noah Hutmacher had a first-period pin to win his match at 220 pounds, and Swade Reis and Devyn Anderson each earned decisions for the Cubs.

Mitchell (1-0) will continue dual action on Saturday at the eight-team Watertown Duals at the Watertown Civic Arena.
