Mitchell White splits the doubleheader against Brandon Valley

Jun. 16—The Mitchell White teener baseball team dropped Game 1 against Brandon Valley, 6-5, but made a stellar comeback in the fifth inning of Game 2 to win 5-4.

Mitchell and the Lynx started off slow, going scoreless through the first two innings of Game 2. The Lynx would score twice, one off a single and one off an error, to finally get on the board. Mitchell would respond as Jacob Ebert and Gavin Jones had an RBI each to tie the game at two at the end of the third inning.

Brandon Valley scored two more runs to start the fourth, but Mitchell White rallied back with an RBI from Van Johnson to make it a one score game.

At the start of the fifth inning, Quinton Wilson came in as a courtesy runner for Ebert, stole second base, and later advanced to third on Jaxson Hartman's RBI to tie the game. Tyler Christensen then grounds out to shortstop, but brings Wilson home for his only RBI of the game to give Mitchell a 5-4 lead.

Christensen, who pitched the last three innings, would seal the game finishing with zero errors and two strikeouts. Gavin Jones pitched the first three innings allowing four runs, two errors, but one strikeout.
