Mitchell Marlin girls rout Huron in road contest

Dec. 4—HURON — Kelsey Amick and Kate Nash each had hat tricks and the Mitchell Marlins scored 11 goals in a road win over Huron on Friday night in high school girls hockey action.

Amick had five points, as did Reese Amick, who had a goal and four assists. Nash had a four-point performance in the victory. Brynlee Sabers, Samantha Kludt, Brooke Jarman and Tiffany Hatwan each scored goals for the Marlins, who have scored 20 goals in their first two contests.

The Marlins outshot Huron 46-17 in the game, including 20-2 in the first period to build a 3-0 lead. Sadie Kludt had 16 saves to earn the win for Mitchell in net.

The Marlins had their success against an undermanned All-Stars squad, which had just seven players and a goaltender on the scoresheet. Marissa Ready made 35 saves for Huron in the loss.

Mitchell (2-0) continues a busy weekend of hockey by hosting Brookings at 4 p.m. Saturday in Mitchell, followed by a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee against Watertown.
