Mitchell boys golf finishes fourth in Watertown Invitational

Sep. 22—WATERTOWN — The Mitchell High School boys golf team pulled in another top-5 team finish Tuesday at the Watertown Invitational played at Cattail Crossing Golf Course.

Mitchell scored 324 as a team, posting a fourth-place finish. Noah Larson led the way with a round of 77, good for sixth place in the field of 78 golfers.

Host Watertown won the tournament with a score of 299. Harrisburg was second with 311, followed by Pierre at 321 and Mitchell at 324 for fourth place.

The Kernels' Jackson Childs shot a round of 80 to land in a tie for 11th place, with Macon Larson shooting 81 and tying for 16th place. Lincoln Bates rounded out the team scorers with an 86, tying for 30th. Also posting rounds for Mitchell were Asher Dannenbring, who tied for 44th place with a 90 and Brady Reiners, who was 58th with a round of 95.

Watertown's Kaden Rylance shot a round of 5-under-67 to win the tournament, with a round that included seven birdies. Teammate Jake Olson was the next closest to Rylance, shooting an even-par-72. Hayden Scott, of Harrisburg, and Mason Carrels, of Aberdeen Roncalli, tied for third place with rounds of 74, followed by Harrisburg's Charlie Swift in fifth place with a 4-over-76.

Mitchell will return to Cattail Crossing on Saturday, Sept. 25 for the Eastern South Dakota Conference meet, which begins at 10 a.m. in Watertown.
