Mitchell 15/16s allow two runs in two games to sweep Watertown

Jul. 23—The Mitchell 15/16s won two games against Watertown in two completely different manners.

Mitchell first nipped Watertown 2-1 and then scored nine runs in the fourth inning to surge past Watertown in an 11-1 win in Game 2 on Thursday in teener baseball action.

Despite two hits in Game 1, Mitchell earned the win after Gavin Soukup's ground ball in the second resulted in an error, plating a pair of runs.

Meanwhile, Colin Stange did not allow an earned run, allowing seven hits and striking out three in a complete-game win on the mound.

In Game 2, Lincoln Bates drove in three runs, while Carter Miller went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Lukas Bennett and Stange both had two hits and an RBI, while Landon Waddell and Karter Sibson had two hits apiece.

Peyton Schroeder earned the win on the mound for Mitchell (16-14), scattering one earned run on six hits over five innings and struck out two.
