Missouri QB Kelly Bryant (knee) expected to play vs. Ole Miss; star LB Cale Garrett out indefinitely
Missouri provided two bits of injury news on Sunday. One was positive, the other was not.
We’ll start on a positive note with quarterback Kelly Bryant, who was hit low and late toward the end of the first half of Saturday’s 42-10 win over Troy. The hit, which came just after Bryant delivered a six-yard touchdown pass to Jalen Knox with 1:12 left in the half, caused Bryant to exit the game with a knee injury.

As you can see, it initially it did not look good, but the school said Sunday it’s just a knee sprain and Bryant is expected to fully participate in practice this week in the lead-up to the Ole Miss game. Bryant, a graduate transfer from Clemson, has thrown for 1,246 yards, 11 touchdowns and three interceptions in his five games at Mizzou. He threw for 221 yards and three scores in the win over Troy.
Cale Garrett out indefinitely
On the other side of the ball, however, linebacker Cale Garrett will be out indefinitely after suffering a pectoral tendon injury on Saturday. According to PowerMizzou.com, Garrett will have surgery on Tuesday and could miss the remainder of the season.
It’s a big blow for the Tigers. Garrett, a senior, has been playing at a high level, leading Missouri with 39 tackles and three interceptions, two of which have been returned for touchdowns. Garrett also recovered a fumble for a touchdown earlier this season.
For his career, Garrett, a starter since midway through his freshman year, has totaled 291 tackles, 26 tackles for loss and six interceptions.
After dropping its season opener to Wyoming on the road, Missouri has won four straight games and will host Ole Miss at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday. That game precedes three straight SEC road games against Vanderbilt, Kentucky and No. 3 Georgia.
