Miriam Margolyes calls herself a 't***' on 'This Morning' as she recalls awkward moment with the Queen
This Morning presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were forced to apologise to viewers during Miriam Margolyes’s most recent appearance on the show, as the actor called herself a “t**t” live on air.
The Harry Potter star, who came on the show to discuss her new role in Call the Midwife, was asked to recall a frosty exchange she once shared with Queen Elizabeth II, where the monarch scolded her for interrupting another person’s greeting.

“Well, I have talked about this before on television, and I feel awkward saying it again,” the 78-year-old began innocently. “But I was invited to the palace as part of British Book Week and when the Queen came over to me, she asked me what I did... in a very nice way, you know.
“And I said, like a t**t, I’m the best reader of stories in the whole world.”
Margolyes went on to remember how Her Majesty then rolled her eyes and moved on to the next person waiting to meet her, a Scottish man who said he taught dyslexic children to read.
“‘Ma’am, we’ve noticed that if you put the letters in different colours and the pages are printed in different colours, it helps the children absorb the information more quickly,’” she continued, impersonating the teacher.
“And I said, ‘Really?! That’s fascinating, I didn’t know that,’” she added. “And she turned to me and went, ‘Be quiet’. She had every right to do [it], but it was a bit discombobulating.”

Speaking of the Royals, Schofield and Willoughby also asked Margolyes what she made of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent announcement that they are “stepping back” from the Royal family in order to become “financially independent” and split their time between the UK and North America.

“I’m a bit troubled by it because they didn’t let anybody know,” she explained. “But we don’t know anything about it. We don’t know them, or the circumstances. I think people are too ready to jump in and criticise. I wish them the best.”
