Milwaukee Bucks are set to sign free agent DeMarcus Cousins to one-year deal

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has confirmed simultaneous reports from ESPN and The Athletic that the Milwaukee Bucks and free agent DeMarcus Cousins have agreed to come together on a non-guaranteed, one-year deal.

Cousins, 31, last played for the Los Angeles Clippers at the end of last season.

He has been a free agent this year.

As center Brook Lopez continues to recover from what has been deemed back soreness, the Bucks have been shorthanded in the front court all season. Cousins is 6 feet-10 inches and 270 pounds.

The No. 5 overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft, Cousins is a two-time All-NBA player and a four-time All-Star, though his last appearance in the midseason exhibition was 2017-18 in New Orleans. He has played for five teams and has averaged 20.4 points and 10.6 rebounds for his career.

Cousins last averaged a double-double in that all-star season for the Pelicans (25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds) while playing 48 games.

He is not the floor-spacer Lopez and Bobby Portis have become, however, as a career 33.4% three-point shooter, though he did make 42% of his threes off the bench for the Clippers last year.
