Milwaukee Brewers promotional schedule includes Sesame Street theme night, usual slate of giveaways (plus check out stadium changes)

An earlier version of this story incorrectly indicated the previous location of the playground area.

Though Major League Baseball remains stuck in neutral during its lockout, the Milwaukee Brewers are hoping to remind fans that baseball could be right around the corner.

The Brewers released their 2022 promotional schedule Friday, one day after unveiling stadium upgrades at American Family Field. Now, they just need a guarantee of when games start, an uncertainty despite recent talks between the players association and ownership group.

A sign of the times trickled even into the promotional schedule, where the organization had previously promised six bobblehead giveaway dates (May 22, June 5, June 26, July 10, July 24, Sept. 11) but didn't identify any of the players so portrayed. That's consistent with the way the clubs have approached the lockout, resisting any mention of current players (including on the team's official website).

The Brewers also set a giveaway of a Robin Yount 1980s replica jersey Aug. 7. We'll go out on a limb and assume at least one of those player bobbleheads will feature a commemoration of Corbin Burnes' Cy Young Award.

Milwaukee's 10 theme and community nights run a familiar gamut of motifs but add some new wrinkles. They are:

  • April 2 - Greek Night. Hmm, wonder if new Brewers owner Giannis Antetokounmpo will be on hand for that one? The Bucks, coincidentally, will be between home games on April 1 and April 3. Fans can get a shirt with Greek lettering if they purchase a special package, and college students are encouraged to show off their fraternity or sorority affiliations.

  • April 14 - 414 Community Night. The new community night coincides with Milwaukee's celebratory 414 Day, and fans can purchase a special ticket package to receive a Milwaukee flag.

  • May 4 - Star Wars. The annual favorite returns on May the Fourth, though we'll have to wait to find out what delicious Star Wars-themed pun gets worked into a giveaway. Kylo Renfroe? Boba Freddy? Corey Rey? Willy Adama? Wait, that last one's Battlestar Gallactica.

  • June 7 - Bark at the Park

  • June 8 - Pride Night

  • July 9 - Sesame Street Night. Fans can purchase a package and receive a limited-edition Elmo bobblehead. Since furry monsters are not subject to the same dispute between MLB and MLBPA, we can safely identify him.

  • June 25 - Christmas In June. It includes a Brewers holiday baseball cap giveaway.

  • July 22 - Negro Leagues Tribute

  • July 23 - Pajama Night. It includes a giveaway of Brewers pajama pants.

  • Sept. 17 - Cerveceros Night. Includes the option to purchase a special package that includes a Cerveceros soccer jersey.

Other giveaways include a "tailgate toolbelt" Aug. 6, an MLB Network tote bag on Sept. 16 and a toy tractor Sept. 18.

Student nights are also back this season, allowing high school and college students to purchase discounted tickets for all Friday home games in 2022.

Addition to loge level at American Family Field

On Thursday, the club announced some tweaks to the fan experience at American Family Field, including a new look to the right-field corner of the loge level and a relocation of the children's play area on the fourth deck.

The "Cream City Cocktail Bar" will now live in a prime spot in the right-field corner on the loge (second) level, including a 65-foot porcelain bar that offers a view of the field.

The bar will include a variety of cocktails and spirits, including brandy old fashioneds for the true-blooded Wisconsinites.

The Aurora Children's Health Kids Zone on the terrace (fourth) level) will move from section 426 to 406 and now include a rubber playground flooring system to beef up the safety. The field-level children's play area will remain in place.

The concourses also will debut new marketplaces, including an expanded area on the terrace behind home plate, plus two new retail pop-ups on the loge level selling Brewers merchandise.

The stadium will remain cashless, with mobile ordering available to fans who want their purchases delivered to their seats.
