Millie Bobby Brown tearfully recalls 'uncomfortable' fan encounter: 'I'm a human being'

Millie Bobby Brown is tearfully asking fans to respect her boundaries following an "uncomfortable" encounter with a fan while she was Christmas shopping with her mom.

The "Stranger Things" star, 16, took to her Instagram Story in tears Monday after a fan went against her wishes and recorded Brown without her consent after the teen star declined.

"She said, 'Can I take a video of you?' I said, 'No,' " the actress said. "At the end of the day, I don’t need to justify it to anyone. If I don’t want to be taken a video of, I don’t have to be."

Despite saying no, Brown said the fan proceeded to record her anyway.

"I said, 'I'm a human being. What more can I ask from you?' " an emotional Brown said. "I asked her and she said, 'So I can't take a video of a human being?' And I said, 'No, not when I said no.' "

The "Enola Holmes" star said the incident made her "upset" and she asked her supporters to respect her privacy and boundaries.

"I just wish people were more respectful," Brown said. "I'm still trying to navigate this all and it's still overwhelming. I will take a picture with you, but when you push the boundary and try and fight me on it … where are my rights to say no?"

Brown followed up her video with a Instagram Story message saying she's "totally fine now, but was emotional in the moment because I felt uncomfortable and disrespected."

She preached it's "important to set your boundaries and speak up." She added, "I love you guys. Be kind to one another."

Brown catapulted to fame in 2016 as Eleven on Netflix's "Stranger Things" at just 12 years old. She has gone on to star in blockbuster films, like "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" and "Enola Holmes," but growing up in the limelight comes with difficulties.

"the last few years haven't been easy, I'll admit that," Brown wrote on Instagram in February. "there are moments i get frustrated from the inaccuracy, inappropriate comments, sexualization, and unnecessary insults that ultimately have resulted in pain and insecurity for me."

She continued: "but not ever will i be defeated. ill continue doing what i love and spreading the message in order to make change."
