At this point, I feel like Miley Cyrus is becoming a global ambassador for the modern mullet.

For context - remember back when Tiger King became our whole lives amid global lockdowns? At the same time, Miley was beginning to develop her new hair aesthetic - a grungy platinum mullet that screamed "don't mess"?

Miley told the Wall Street Journal that her gorgeous shaggy look was intended to complement the rock-inspired music she'd had lined up for release (which we now know to be her 2020 album Plastic Hearts).

Then, when everyone from Maisie Williams to Cara Delevingne got on board, Miley went one step further, making her mullet even more... mullet-y. She even experimented with bowl cut vibes back in Super Bowl season (no, the pun wasn't lost on me either).

Anyway, Miley is now raising the game once again with an incred new hair evolution. In a new self-directed 'selfie film' for Gucci, posted to her grid, Miley debuted a gorgeous new look that brought with it a serious whiff of... noughties Oasis (with a sprinkling of 2002 Jamie Oliver).

Her top shorter layers have been pulled even further forward, her bottom layers are blunter, and we're seeing the coiffed spikes that became popular though the likes of Noel Gallagher and co.

And guys? I don't hate it. I really don't. In fact, I'm obsessed.

Hair stylist legend Sally Hershberger (who is often credited with helping to invent the shag cut back in the day) commented a bunch of celebratory emojis, leading us to think she's either suuuuper into the vibe Miley's serving, or may have even had something to do with the look.

Just in case, here's a throwback Oasis shot to jog your memory:

Let it be known that I'm a massive fan of this look. It's absolutely iconic, and I'm predicting it's going to be the look of the summer for brave hair experimenters looking to tap into a bit of noughties nostalgia to spruce up existing shags and mullets.

The question remains, what's Miley going to pull out of her sleeve for her next hair transformation? Watch this space (I'm predicting a pixie crop...)
