You’ve seen him on your television and computer screens, now get ready to see him on the big screen. Everyone’s favorite New York sports talk host Mike Francesa has a role in the new movie “Uncut Gems” featuring Adam Sandler and Kevin Garnett.
We’ve checked the calendar and it’s not April Fools’ Day, so this must be a real thing. Oh, and since this is a movie, Francesa can swear as much as he likes. He even drops an f-bomb during the film’s trailer.
I’m honored to have worked with these guys. Even made the trailer! https://t.co/JmRz6utEg9— Mike Francesa (@MikeFrancesa) September 24, 2019
We’re a bit confused about what the movie is actually about, though Sandler’s character appears to be a degenerate gambler. Francesa seems to take exception to one of Sandler’s bets, telling him, “Well I’ll tell you what I know, that’s the dumbest f—-ing bet I ever heard of.”
It’s hard to get past Francesa being in a movie, but we need to acknowledge Garnett here. In any other movie, Garnett’s presence would be the main attraction. But when Francesa is involved, Garnett has to play second fiddle.
Garnett appears to be playing a himself in the film. Based on the dialogue in the trailer, Garnett’s character plays for the Boston Celtics. He may have a contentious relationship with Sandler’s character.
Francesa’s presence alone makes us intrigued. And if he delivers a strong performance, you know there will be campaigns to get Francesa a Best Supporting Actor nomination.
