Migos Rapper Takeoff Killed In Halloween Shooting In Houston

A member of the rap group Migos has died in a Halloween shooting incident.

A representative for the rap group Migos confirmed to the Associated Press that TakeOff, whose real name was Kirsnick Khari Ball, was fatally shot at a bowling alley in Houston on Tuesday morning. He was 28 years old.

In a press conference, police stated that both Takeoff and fellow Migos member Quavo were among the guests attending a private party at 810 Billiards & Bowling, though they did not offer details on their condition, according to NBC affiliate KPRC.

Police responded to reports of a shooting at the multi-level venue in downtown Houston around 2:40 a.m. Authorities said that when the officers arrived, they found a crowd had gathered around a Black male in his 20s with a gunshot wound to the neck or head. The man, whose name officials have withheld until they notify next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Quavo, TakeOff and Offset — the latter was not at the party — grew up together in Atlanta, Georgia. Quavo was TakeOff's uncle, and cousin to Offset. They would go on to form their group in 2008, finding fame with hit songs like the 2016 single "Bad and Boujee," featuring Lil Uzi Vert, and "Motorsport," featuring Nicki Minaj and Cardi B. They'd go on to be nominated for Best Rap Album and Best Rap performance at the 2018 Grammy Awards.
