Defensive back Michael Dowell, a redshirt junior, entered the NCAA transfer portal — becoming the fourth member of Michigan State’s 2021 team to do so since September.

After starting the first four games this year as a slot cornerback, Dowell was supplanted by budding sophomore Darius Snow and played as a reserve in his final six appearances. He produced 40 tackles and batted away three passes.

A former three-star recruit who joined the Spartans in 2018, Dowell is the brother of former MSU safety David Dowell and linebacker Andrew Dowell.
