Michigan State basketball at Notre Dame: Stream, broadcast info, three things to watch, prediction

Michigan State basketball will face Notre Dame as part of the ACC-Big Ten Challenge on Wednesday, and if you’re wondering how you can watch the action live, you’ve come to the right place.

The Spartans enter this road matchup after picking up a pair of wins in three games at the PKI tournament in Portland. The Spartans are 5-2 with notable wins over Kentucky, Villanova and Oregon.

Notre Dame is 5-1 but has faced only mid-major opponents. The Fighting Irish had narrow victories over Radford, Youngstown State and Lipscomb before falling to St. Bonaventure in their last game.

Three Things to Watch

Here are three things to watch out for in this matchup between Michigan State and Notre Dame:

Handling pressure on road: Michigan State has played its share of tough games but this will mark its first true road game of the year. The building should be packed and it certainly will be a hostile environment, so how do the Spartans handle that pressure for the first time this year?

Avoiding foul trouble: Both the Spartans and Fighting Irish lack depth, so this game very well could be determined by who isn’t in foul trouble. Notre Dame essentially relies on its starting five and one bench player for all of its production. If Michigan State can draw some fouls to put pressure on Notre Dame’s bench that would be big in the final outcome.

Hauser reaching double-digits in points: When Joey Hauser scores 10 or more points, Michigan State wins. That’s how it’s gone so far this year and his play in this game should play a big role in the final score. Hauser is averaging more than 18 points per game in the Spartans’ five wins and only 5.5 points in their two losses. How he plays should indicate how this game goes.

Game Prediction

Prediction: Notre Dame 74, MSU 71

Winning on the road against a fringe NCAA Tournament team is never easy. Especially when you’ve played the schedule the Spartans have gone through in the past two weeks . They will most likely be without Jaden Akins and Malik Hall again. If this game wasn’t being played at Notre Dame, I’d like the Spartans by a comfortable margin, but that’s not the case, so I’ll go with Notre Dame here.
