Michigan football is still on pause, going all virtual Tuesday

Michigan football is still on pause due to concerns about COVID-19.

“Out of an abundance of caution, we will again hold all team activities in a virtual format today,” the program said in a statement Tuesday afternoon. “We will continue to follow the prevention protocols and recommendations of our medical professionals and the health department, and do everything to keep our focus on protecting the health, safety and welfare of our student-athletes and staff.”

The Wolverines initially paused in-person team activities Monday due to "an increased number of presumptive positives that are awaiting confirmation," according to coach Jim Harbaugh.

“That’s an increased number from zero,” Harbaugh said Monday. “It was more than one. It was a few. So it was increased.”

Harbaugh also revealed that at least one player tested positive before this past weekend's game against Penn State and said that the Wolverines have had players unable to play due to presumptive positive tests. Michigan's athletic department has not reveal the number of positive tests specific to the football program this fall.

The Wolverines are scheduled to play Maryland this Saturday. Monday and Tuesday's scheduled news conferences with student-athletes were both canceled.
