Game notes: Michigan's two straight losses (Virginia and Kentucky) are respectable enough, but the Wolverines will surely want to end the skid there — and start the Big Ten season off right. Hunter Dickinson (19.6 points and 9.1 rebounds per game) has been very good, but he'll need to be better with the loss of transfer guard Jaelin Llewellyn (ACL) for the season. Look for Jett Howard (15.3 ppg) and Kobe Bufkin (9.6 ppg) to do more offensively as well.
Minnesota is on a three-game losing streak, and like Michigan, those defeats (at UNLV, Virginia Tech and Purdue) came to teams that will probably be in the dancing in March. The Golden Gophers struggled to contain the Boilermakers inside and out, getting outrebounded, 41-21, and allowing 7-for-17 shooting from 3-point range. Zach Edey himself corraled more boards than all of Minnesota, finishing with 31 points and 22 rebounds (eight offensive). Jamison Battle has played in just four games but leads the team with 13.8 ppg and 35.5 minutes per game. Dawson Garcia is right behind him at 13.2 ppg in 28.6 mpg in eight games.
The Wolverines won't play again until Dec. 17 vs. Lipscomb. Minnesota hosts Mississippi State on Sunday.
