Michelle Visage: 'Strictly' is helping me recover from breast implant nightmare
Michelle Visage has said that her tough Strictly Come Dancing training schedule is helping her to recover from a nightmarish experience with breast implants which she had to have removed.
The RuPaul’s Drag Race star is currently riding high at the top of the show’s leaderboard after having scored a series record of 39 points for her Halloween Addams Family-themed Foxtrot, but has revealed health issues that have made training even harder for her.

Talking on the Lorraine show on Monday, she explained that she had suffered with auto-immune issues for 20 years until recently having her breast implants taken out.
She said: “When I took control of my health by removing my breast implants, I started to feel better and thought, ‘what better way to have a second chance at life than Strictly?’.”

Visage added: “It took a good six weeks for me to get on my feet to the point where I thought, ‘how am I going to be able to dance, I can’t even go to the ladies’ room by myself’.
“Each time I sweat, each time I’m pushing through an eight-hour rehearsal, I’m thinking, ‘I’m healing, I’m healing, I’m healing’, and that’s what pushes it through.
“This is a new woman, a new chance at life.”

The TV star explained that she had no choice but to return to work: “I am the sole breadwinner for a family of four - my husband’s a stay-at-home dad, we don’t eat, we don’t pay the bills, we don’t pay the rent if I don’t work.
“So I have no choice but to pick my chin up and work and do what I have to do for my family.”

Visage also commented on the shock elimination from Strictly at the weekend, which saw the judges choose to send home Catherine Tyldesley and Johannes Radebe but save Mike Bushell and Katya Jones for another week.
She said: “My jaw was on the ground.
“Cath and Johannes are two of my closest friends in the competition...Cath is just on top of the world that she made it to Halloween week.”
