Michelin stars and new prices: Miami Spice is coming. Here’s everything you need to know

Miami Spice is about to get the star treatment.

The annual summer dining promotion by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, which partners with local restaurants to offer fixed-price meals in August and September, plans to highlight spots named by the Michelin dining guide this year.

“We’re experiencing a Michelin halo effect,” said Rolando Aedo, chief operating officer for the GMCVB. “This puts an exclamation point on Miami being a world-class city with world-class cuisine.”

The restaurants participating in 2022 have been released and can be viewed at miamiandbeaches.com, where the list is sortable by neighborhood, cuisine type and dietary options.

Aedo said the functionality to search by Michelin ranking should be available by the time the promotion launches on Aug. 1. It runs through Sept. 30. The fixed-price cost for a three-course lunch or brunch is $28 a person, with two options for dinner this year: a $45 a person option and an upgraded $60 a person option. The tourism website lists which restaurants are offering the deals and what days of the week they are available. This year around 200 restaurants in the county are expected to participate, as of today 147 appear on the website.

Prices are up slightly this year, from $23 for lunch/brunch and $39 in 2019, the last year the promotion ran before the coronavirus pandemic.

Not all of the 65 restaurants mentioned by the Michelin guide are participating in Miami Spice, but many are, Aedo said. So far, the first to enroll is Cote, the Korean steakhouse import from New York. Miami Spice is a promotion that allows restaurants to keep their dining rooms busy during traditionally slow summer months. And it allows diners to try new restaurants on a budget.

“This program demystifies the ‘fancy dining’ experience,” he said.
