New member for airport board

May 12—NORWALK — The Huron County Airport Board has a new member.

Michael Barefoot was appointed to the board during the Huron County Commissioners meeting Tuesday morning.

Barefoot takes the place of Harry Brady, who recently resigned. All of the members of the board are in their first year.

In February, Scott Sparks was appointed to the board after John Colvin resigned.

In March, the commissioners accepted Larry Silcox's resignation from the airport board. Herbert "Nick" Burch filled the vacancy.

The commissioners said Barefoot was interviewed and seemed like a good fit for the vacancy.

During the meeting, the commissioners created a new fund, a local fiscal recovery fund. Commissioner Terry Boose said the county is expecting funds to be coming to the county soon from the Recovery Act.

He said they received the guidelines for the use of the funds.

Precision Paving, of Milan, was awarded a bid for the city of Willard's Myrtle Avenue Improvement Project.

Commissioners Boose and Skip Wilde said the county is very fortunate that all of the companies that bid on the project were local.
