Melissa Etheridge cancels Conner Prairie show due to COVID

Singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge canceled her Friday night performance at Conner Prairie after testing positive for COVID-19. Refunds are available despite a no-refund policy posted on the Symphony on the Prairie website.

Etheridge tweeted the news Friday evening, saying she felt fine and hated having to cancel several shows in Fishers, Detroit and Elkhart on her One Way Out tour.

The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, which coordinated this year's Kroger Symphony on the Prairie program, also released a statement wishing Etheridge a quick recovery and telling ticketholders that a credit would be added to their Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra accounts.

The statement pointed to the symphony's frequently asked question website, which notes that ticketholders have until Sep. 4 to use credited funds, or they will be forfeited.

"Kroger Symphony on the Prairie has a no refund policy on all events," the website reads. "If a concert is canceled, the amount you paid for your ticket, table, reserved seating, or reserved parking will be automatically returned to your ISO account and can be used toward a future summer performance or toward any table, reserved seating, reserved parking, or Huntington Bank Sunset Lounge purchase at Kroger Symphony on the Prairie."

However, when reached by an IndyStar reporter, Symphony vice president for marketing Sara Galer said refunds will be available.

"If patrons cannot find another ISO concert that fits their schedule, they can contact the ISO Box Office for a refund (at) 317-639-4300," Galer said.

Etheridge was one of the major names on this year's Symphony on the Prairie lineup, along with Three Dog Night, which is scheduled to play Saturday.
