It’s Christmas in July for Melania Trump. While the rest of the country has been glued to Wednesday’s congressional hearing with Robert Mueller — with many impeachment-minded politicians thinking Christmas has come early — the first lady has made it clear that she plans to be in the White House at least until Dec. 25.

In the midst of Mueller’s testimony, the first lady’s team posted photos of her getting an early start on holiday preparations, which they dubbed a “unique tradition.” Accompanying photos show FLOTUS picking out decorations and signing off on her follow-up to last year’s eyebrow-raising red Christmas trees.

Over on Instagram, Trump’s devotees left gushing comments like, “You make everything beautiful!” Over on Twitter, however, the reaction was considerably less festive.

Many were perplexed as to why the first lady was already kicking off Christmas planning.

Other critics taunted her over the possibility of a Trump impeachment and pre-Christmas exit, with one likening her Christmas planning to “rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.”

She also caught flak over the border detention centers.

It’s a lot of hubbub over a seemingly innocuous holiday-themed post, but maybe it’s what FLOTUS had in mind all along? After all, nothing says “not so fast” like interrupting calls for your husband to be impeached by announcing your intentions to stick around for at least the next few months.
