Fashion-forward Meghan Markle wears this season's new It bag brand

Last night, the Duchess of Sussex attended the WellChild Awards in London with Prince Harry.

The couple, fresh from their tour of South Africa, praised the courage of seriously ill children and their families at the ceremony, held at The Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.

For the occasion, the Duchess of Sussex re-wore her engagement interview dress: a forest green, fitted midi dress by Italian brand, Parosh. A cream, wrap coat by Canadian label Sentaler completed the outfit.

The outerwear was previously worn by the 38-year-old during her first Christmas Day with the British Royal Family in December 2017.

But it was Meghan’s bag that caught our eye: Meghan matched her dress with a Montunas handbag. A tortoiseshell, acrylic box bag with a silk scarf handle.

Unlike most of the Duchess’ wardrobe, the bag’s still in stock. It might be the price that put the royal’s sartorial fans off: the Duchess’s bag, the Guaria mini orchid-print silk handle box bag, isn’t what most would consider an affordable buy at £365.

Meghan hasn’t worn anything from the brand previously, but it’s easy to see why it won the Duchess’ stylish seal of approval.

The totes - available on both Net-A-Porter and Matches Fashion - are made from either leather or acrylic and feature silk scarves and very on-trend shapes, similar to those used by fellow It brands Cult Gaia and Staud.

You’ll be forgiven for not knowing the brand - it’s fairly new to us, too. It’s a family-run label, founded by Elke Ruge and her two daughters, Amanda and Elena Hawila. The family come from Costa Rica, which they pay homage to in their designs.

“All of our acetate pieces are inspired by our orchid house in the mountains of Costa Rica,” Amanda told Who What Wear earlier this year. “The shapes are all based on orchid pots and vessels, and the names are native Costa Rican orchids. For us, nature is our biggest inspiration—it’s not hard when you’re from Costa Rica!”
